Overview:

Dell Networking H-Series Edge Switches, based on Intel® Omni-Path architecture, create fabrics that meet the needs of the most demanding applications, with high message rate throughput, deterministic latency and enhanced end-to-end reliability.

In response to ever-increasing processing power and core counts, Intel® Omni-Path fabric supports high bandwidth and message rate throughput from each node throughout the fabric.

A purpose-built 48-port ASIC design provides for improved fabric scalability and reduced latency, increased density and reduced cost and power, while enabling 2-tier configurations for up to 27,648 nodes.

Deterministic latency and enhanced reliability

Intel® Omni-Path Architecture is built to help minimize the negative performance impacts of large maximum transmission units (MTUs) on small messages, bypassing lower priority large packets in favor of higher priority small packets. This distribution helps maintain a lower, more predictable latency for inter-process communication (IPC) messages when large messages are being simultaneously transmitted in the fabric.

Error detection and correction enhancements include zero load for detection, and if a correction is required, packets are retransmitted from the last link, not from the sending node.

Key benefits

  • Intel® OPA 48 switch port ASIC provides improved fabric scalability, increased density, lower latency, cost and power.
  • These switches can lower fabric acquisition costs dramatically, while simultaneously reducing space and power requirements.
  • Software management tools for ease of installation and managing small to very large complex fabrics
